Three awards are presented to non-students:
The Bonner Prize recognizes a member of the UA community who has gone above and beyond normal expectations to change the culture or implement new initiatives designed to advance the Alabama experience for all undergraduate students or a segment of the undergraduate population (i.e. first generation, veterans, Greeks, student leaders, athletes, students studying abroad, minorities, etc.).
The Mayer Award recognizes a member of the teaching faculty who exemplifies qualities that govern the life of Morris L. Mayer: integrity, selfless service, leadership at The University of Alabama and in the community, and significant contributions to student life.
The Sullivan Award recognizes excellence of character and service to humanity. It honors one non-student who has been helpful to and associated with the University. Recipients of this award have demonstrated the highest standards of scholarship, leadership, and service.
Any member of the faculty, staff, or students of the University may make nominations. Preferred nomination items are: Letter of Nomination, 1-3 Letters of Support or Recommendation. (Letters from students, alumni, and others who have witnessed nominee's qualifications are encouraged.)
